Hilton set for rapid expansion in China
HILTON WORLDWIDE HOLDINGS INC., is set for rapid expansion in China to take advantage of the growing demand from domestic and international travellers.
The world’s largest hospitality company by number of rooms plans to add more hotels in China than anywhere else in Asia.
Hilton wants to almost triple the number of hotels the company currently has in China. The company now has 71 hotels in China, and that number will rise to 206 – or over three-quarters of the 266 it has aimed for the Asia-Pacific region in the coming years, said Martin Rinck, Hilton’s Asia-Pacific President.
“Travel remains strong, both domestically within China and as reflected in the outbound numbers,” Rinck told Bloomberg.
He said Hilton is focused on the mid-scale segment and has cut a franchise deal with China’s Plateno Hotels to construct 400 hotels branded Hampton by Hilton in the next 10 years.
