ACCORHOTELS has been on a winning streak since moving its Asia-Pacific headquarters from Sydney to Singapore in 2008.
The brand is now the largest hotel operator in the Lion City, employing more than 3,300 staff from an initial 500. On top of that, last year’s takeover of Fairmont Singapore, Raffles Hotel, Swissotel The Stamford, and Swissotel Merchant Court aided in catapulting Accor to the top.
AccorHotels Asia Pacific chairman & CEO Michael Issenberg said, “We had several options when selecting our new regional headquarters, but we chose Singapore because it provides a safe environment, world-class infrastructure and a business-friendly climate.”
Recently, the group launched a new subsidiary, John Paul, a concierge and customer loyalty business. The acquisition announced last year is aimed at elevating Accor’s customer service and guest experience.
John Paul uses technology to continually improve customer service and anticipate client needs through rigorous training.
Its 50,000-partner worldwide network and management platform with embedded 360° personalization and profiling capabilities has allowed the company to provide loyalty solutions in many industries.
John Paul is already very active in the travel industry, so this move will be an opportunity for the company to consolidate its position through AccorHotels Group’s 12 hotels in Singapore, which amount to 5,400 rooms.
“I’m very excited about the idea of working with the AccorHotels Group at such a crucial phase in its transformation,” John Paul CEO David Amsellem said following the acquisition.
“This transaction will be a catalyst for our development, meaning organic growth and consolidation alike.”
While the Singapore market is showing signs of a slowdown since the beginning of 2017, Issenberg predicts a growth of 3.4 percent in tourist arrivals this year.
