FORMER US President Barack Obama’s vacations have been splayed across the news since he left office in January. Whether he’s sipping champagne on a yacht with Richard Branson or golfing in Scotland, his vacation photos have been lapped up by the press and readers.
This week, Obama will visit his childhood home of Indonesia for a little R&R accompanied by his wife, Michelle Obama, two daughters Sasha and Malia, as well as several staff members.
A report on The Jakarta Post cited regional military commander Komarudin Simanjuntak: “In which part of Bali he will stay – Gianyar, Kuta or Nusa Dua – I don’t know yet.”
Details of the vacation have been vague but Simanjuntak pressed that he will prioritize Obama and his family’s safeguarding at all times.
“The Army, especially VVIP security personnel, never choose days. The Army has always been trained to face any situation. So, once [Obama] says [he] will go to Bali, that’s the time for us to work,” he said.
After soaking up the island sun in Bali, the Obamas will head to Yogyakarta and Jakarta, the latter where he will open the 4th Indonesian Diaspora Congress.
He is also invited by Indonesian President Joko Widodo for a visit to the Bogor Palace.
