SINGAPORE AIRLINES (SIA) and ride-sharing app Grab announced a partnership to integrate their mobile apps which means that GrabRewards members now have the flexibility to convert their GrabRewards points into KrisFlyer miles.

If you’re a regular Grab user, this could mean that your next international flight could be subsidised accordingly.

On top of that, SIA passengers traveling to the airport in six Southeast Asian countries –Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – can travel to the airport easily via Grab using the SIA mobile app.

Customers using the app will see an option to book a Grab ride to the airport seven days before their scheduled flight, and selecting this option will direct customers to the Grab app, where they can choose to order a ride to the airport on-demand or in advance.

To make things easier, the airport will be automatically listed as the destination, so you simply have to fill in the pick-up point and desired time.

SIA’s senior vice president of sales & marketing, Campbell Wilson, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to bring more convenience to our customers on the ground and in the air through our new partnership with Grab, while also offering KrisFlyer and GrabRewards members the opportunity to convert points to miles and redeem them for award flights or flight upgrades.”

Meanwhile, Jason Thompson, head of GrabPay, said: “With GrabRewards, a dollar spent on Grab is more valuable than a dollar spent in cash. By integrating Grab’s and SIA’s loyalty programmes, customers can look forward to using their points when they plan for their next holiday.”

Grab operates in more than 100 cities across seven countries including Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar.
