Level up your ‘Gram game with ‘Instagram butler’ at this Maldives resort
WE know by now that many travelers – especially millennials – are driven by Instagram-worthy views when making travel decisions. But Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is taking the trend to a whole new level with an “Instagram butler”, according to AFP.
The butler is responsible to take guests around the most Instagram-worthy or photogenic sites around the property and island for their “money shot”. The dedicated butler will also take photos for guests as they go along on the “Insta-trail”. This could be a handy feature for couples who might want their photos taken against a beach backdrop but may find themselves without a photographer.
On top of that, the butler will advise guests on the “golden hour” to snap photos whether during sunrise or sunset. Activities too can be organized for the perfect snapshot such as yoga lessons by the beach, cooking classes, or nocturnal star-gazing sessions.
This move makes sense in a climate where travelers are deciding where to go based on social media photos.
According to Independent, a survey by UK home insurance company Schofields Insurance said 40.1 percent of millennials see a location’s “Instagrammability” as the most important factor to consider when choosing a holiday destination. This is followed by cost and the availability of alcohol, which ranked second at 24 percent.
“I have no shame in admitting I love going to places that I know will look good on Instagram, but that’s not the only reason for choosing them,” Instagrammer who only goes by Rebecca, 25, tells the UK daily.
“If a place is beautiful, I’ll appreciate it and enjoy being there as well as upping my Insta-game – it’s a win-win. Instagram is a great place to find holiday inspiration too,” she said.
Aren’t we all just doin’ it for the ‘gram?
