ASIA PACIFIC’S luxury hotel market is aggressively competitive, but Minor Hotels under Minor International Pcl (MINT) has proven, time and time again, that it’s one of the industry’s leading players in the region.

The group was established in 1978 when it took Pattaya’s Royal Garden Resorts (presently Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa) under its wing followed by the development of acclaimed properties in the years that followed including Regent Bangkok (presently Anantara Siam Bangkok) and The Royal Garden Village Hua Hin.

Fast forward to present day, Minor Hotels has over 150 hotels and resorts or the equivalent of 19,000 rooms under its helm, a triumphant feat for a brand that found its footing from humble beginnings. Plus, the brand has expanded beyond its initial base operation of Thailand: Minor Hotels properties has flourished beyond Asia Pacific to the Middle East, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America.

Some of the brands under the Minor Hotels umbrella include Anantara, AVANI, Oaks, Elewana Collection, Four Seasons, JW Marriott, St Regis, and Radisson Blu. Last year was a milestone for the brand when it successfully acquiring Tivoli Hotels and Resorts with a portfolio of 12 hotels in Portugal and two in Brazil. The Anantara and AVANI brands will also get carried to South America, while Tivoli will get a feel of Asia Pacific.

AVANI – arguably one of Minor Hotels most recognizable names – is known for its modern lifestyle features with a focus on meaningful, practical details. While still upholding its luxury touch, each AVANI property is a balance of leisure and connectivity. At the heart of guests’ experience is a signature living space that offers a vibrant central hub of activity.

In Southeast Asia’s tourist hub of Bangkok, AVANI Riverside Bangkok is a reliable player. Set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the property matches arresting views with modern amenities, spaces to mingle, and a convenient location nearby Bangkok’s access points. The brand taps into the psyche of the modern luxury traveler and ticks all the boxes without going over the top.

And just like all other AVANI properties, luxury is in the details: After a long day of exploring, guests can come back to skyline views, a plush bed, a well-stocked minibar, and an LCD TV.

Moving further west, AVANI’s debut in Portugal is marked with a property in the heart of Lisbon:  AVANI Avenida Liberdade Lisbon Hotel. The hotel is close to shopping attractions and sites including Terreiro do Paço, an emblematic square near the Tagus River, and Avenida da Liberdade, a pretty garden-lined avenue housing luxury stores, theatres and important architectural monuments.

For a post-dinner drink, guests can head to Sky Bar at sister hotel Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa for a drink overlooking Lisbon’s postcard-worthy views among the city’s most stylish up-and-comers. Whether you’re in Bangkok, Lisbon, or another major city within the Minor Hotels catalogue, rest assured that your stay will be most memorable.
