Feel the warm hospitality of the Orang Sungei, the River People of Sabah and be served with a signature welcome drink. Your hosts will brief you on the facilities of the lodge and its surroundings, and the activities that you will partake in during your stay at the Sukau Barefoot Lodge.

Lunch will be served at the Cliff-Hangar Restaurant where you can enjoy a hearty Malaysian meal in the gentle breeze brought in by the longest river in Sabah. Take the afternoon river cruise to look out for Proboscis monkeys along the Kinabatangan River or one of its tributaries, the highlight of your visit. View the primate, endemic only to Borneo Island, congregate along the riverside for their evening rest.

Examine their odd-looking facial features and unique group behaviour, and be amazed by the agility of this much talked-about primate. Other rare wildlife and birds can be sighted during the river cruise, a sure feast to the keen eyes who enjoy nature.

Customer Reviews

"This place was great- nice little room, big open restaurant overlooking the river, friendly staff. The set meals provided as part of the package were really good- nice big portions and tasty dishes." inwonderoftheworld, london

"I booked a 3 day river safari through a private guide, this was the accommodation chosen for my party of 5. We had 3 bedrooms with comfortable and clean beds. Each had a basic but clean ensuite, with toilet, sink and shower, although the water pressure wasn't very strong it was hot and the bathroom was clean. All windows had mosquito screens and we didn't get bitten in our rooms once! They have their own restaurant on the river front where we had breakfasts, lunches and dinner, good food, freshly cooked and tasty. Plenty to go round." Clay Adair
