You’ll hear guests raving about the food here, and Desa Seni restaurant draws plenty of non-guest diners as well.
East-West fusion dishes dominate the menu, and the bulk of the fresh produced used in the kitchen is grown in the resort’s organic vegetable patch.
Ten refurbished antique houses are scattered across the property. These houses have been imported from all over Indonesia, and each is unique.
The rooms are eclectic and decorated with folk art and antiques, but modern amenities including wireless Internet, flat screen TVs, air conditioning, luxury room service, stereo system and DVD player are also available.
Merapu Svaasthya wellness center combines Eastern- and Western-style treatments. The various packages blend acupuncture, auriculotherapy and other holistic treatments depending on your length of stay.
A saltwater lap pool is also available to guests. Surfing and horseback riding are the two most popular off-resort activities in Canggu.
Bali is riddled with small resorts striving to foster an intimate, community-based environment, but few have accomplished this as successfully as Desa Seni. The owners’ fascination with Indonesian art and culture is contagious, and the all-inclusive yoga and wellness packages on offer are enough to justify an entire holiday in Bali for the right kind of guest.
Antiques, Indonesian artifacts and folk art populate the grounds. Guests can sign up on an ad-hoc basis that centers on luxury accommodation in a fully refurbished antique house. But the most attractive offerings are packaged into three- to seven-night stays, which include yoga sessions, massage therapy and select meals at the acclaimed Desa Seni restaurant.
Desa Seni is located on the southwest coast of Bali in a little village known as Canggu. The beach here is great for surfing, though swimmers are better served by the saltwater lap pool on resort grounds.
Horseback riding is also particularly popular in Canggu. For guests who desire more than the peace and tranquility of a village like Canggu, Seminyak is only a ten-minute drive away.
“This is with out a doubt the best hotel I stayed at while in Bali. The service was unobtrusive but efficient, and the food was fantastic (that is coming from someone who really values good food). The decor is stunning (so stunning I went around photographing the place to get ideas for decorating my own home). I would happily return to Bali just to stay at this place once again.” Nadia R, London, UK
“[Desa Seni is] a very conscious community in that it's eco-aware, grows most of its own food it serves in the restaurant, offers very good yoga and meditation classes (best I've had in a resort setting), and the massage at the spa was fantastic!” Rachel N, Yogyakarta, Indonesia
“Desa Seni was by far, the best hotel service we had ever experienced. All the staff knew our names even before we introduced ourselves and remembered them for the duration of our stay. They dealt with food preferences such as vegetarian and gluten free like pro's. It was clean, pristine and peaceful. The food is all organic and grown on site where possible. The yoga classes all amazing. A total oasis.” Donna, Toronto, Canada
