Maneland Jungle Lodge

Those that want to escape to a real jungle setting will love Maneland with its rustic but well appointed rooms and the chance of seeing lions or leopards from outside your window. Maneland Jungle Lodge is designed to match the asthetics of the area & stylized using local material & construction techniques. The lodge, nestling in small hills, provides guests with an ideal blend of the wild, exciting & even romantic experience of the forest.

Rates are for 2 persons and are inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner and range between USD $65 for a standard room and USD $150 for a 2 bedroom bungalow.

The restaurant at Maneland serves Gujurati, Continental and Indian cuisine cooked from home grown and farm fresh vegetables. Tasty Non-Veg Cuisines also prepared.

There are 17 cottages at the lodge. All Cottages have attached baths with hot and cold running water. Amenities include laundry services, liquor license, conferencing facilities, wildlife library, air/rail transfers, indoor games, fax facility, money changer, 24 hours in-house restaurant, swimming pool, doctor on call and room service.

Maneland Jungle Lodge has standard rooms, deluxe rooms  and a bungalow available. Accommodation packages normally include breakfast, lunch and dinner but tariffs without them can be negotiated. The accommodation is in environmentally friendly, rustic cottages that face the Gir forest.

The cottages are built of local stone and feature arches, balconies and other Gujurati designs. This keeps the rooms cool and the beds and some of the furnishings are actually built into the walls as an added touch. The rooms are decorated with bright bedspreads and cane chairs, mosaics and statues.

The main reason people come to Maneland is to see the incredible wealth of animals and plant life on display at the nearby Gir Forest. Safaris can be arranged through the hotel to take you into the forest by jeep to see animals such as the rare Asiatic Lion, only recently brought back from the brink of extinction.

Other excursions include visits to superb beaches at Diu and Chorwad; historical centres like Gondal, Rajkot, Junagadh and Verawal; local temples and hot springs or even farms. A car and driver is available for rent from the hotel.

At Maneland itself they can arrange for a masseur to visit on site or organize a bonfire with tribal dancers. There is also a small nature and wildlife library, some indoor games, swimming pool (under renovation) and conference facilities.

There’s a pervasive Jungle Lodge theme at Maneland, a hotel that really lives and breathes its surroundings. Not only are you located right on the edge of the jungle here in rustic cottage structures complete with Kutchi designs, but sometimes the jungle comes to Maneland with leopards and lions occasionally seen frolicking outside – make sure you lock your windows and doors!

With such authentic experiences close at hand you hardly need to go into the famed Gir forest itself but staff are attentive and smiling to the last and will organize all your safari bookings, and they are well worth it. The sanctuary teams with flora and fauna including the rare Asian lion, Chital deer, hyena, leopard and more.

The cottage style structures where guests stay are neat and clean. Each has about three to four rooms surrounding a small central courtyard with cots and swings to relax in. This is the kind of place you stay if you want an authentic experience not every modern luxury. For example hot water is only available during the morning and rooms have no television or phones.

" It was an out of the world experience in Gir. We spotted the lion at around 7 in the jungles of Gir. The staff is co-operative. Best Experience: The village like ambience created in the resort and the warm room. Spoting of Lion in the jungle added iceing on the cake."  Akshay.

" The hotel lives up to its Jungle Lodge theme by having no TV or phone in the rooms and by being surrounded by the Gir forest on 3 sides. The rooms are set in cottage-style structures, which surround a small courtyard in the center. There were several khatiyas (cots) and swings for guests to relax in. We stayed 2 nights here and really enjoyed the experience." Savi.
