Most of the Marco Polo’s lifestyle facilities are located at the fourth-floor Deck, which features a wide courtyard, the Sarangani Function Room, the Polo Bistro Pool Lounge, the Fitness Center and Lazuli Spa.
The gym provides two floors of exercise space, room enough for an aerobics floor and cutting-edge cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
After you’re done doing laps at the 25 m outdoor pool at the Deck, retire for a drink or three with friends at the Polo Bistro Pool Lounge. At the opposite end of the pool, the two-storey Lazuli Spa offers four treatment rooms and one couple’s room.
The Marco Polo concierge staff is always ready to help business visitors with business services like conference room rental, fax and photocopy, Internet, onward hotel booking, and more.
Its location at busy Claro M. Recto Street places the Marco Polo Davao right in the middle of the action: the hotel occupies a prime lot at one end of Davao City’s most prominent commercial arteries, only twenty minutes away from the airport.
Once you enter the hotel and get past the spacious lobby with its colorful Pacita Abad trapunto artwork on the wall, you’ll be ushered into one of 245 rooms and suites. The rooms are modern with a Filipino touch, rich in the creams and greens that mirror Davao City’s natural hues. The large windows open up to views of the sea or the mountains around the city.
You can also book a cabana room on the fourth or fifth level, which directly overlooks the Deck and its lifestyle amenities. The cabana rooms and suites exit to either a patio or a balcony, allowing a more direct connection between the room and the outdoors.
More on the fourth-floor Deck: all the Marco Polo Davao’s lifestyle amenities are set on this outdoor podium. The swimming pool, the fitness center, and the Lazuli Spa all occupy prime space on the deck. The Hotel’s restaurants are on other floors: the ground-floor Eagles Bar, the 3rd-floor Lotus Court Cantonese restaurant, and the Café Marco on the Mezzanine floor are all different dining experiences worth trying when in Davao.
"I was in Davao for business for 4 days. The staff were very friendly.... There was wi-fi in the rooms but it seemed to drop in and out several times a day/night. It is centrally located and the staff are happy to organise taxis or secure transport. They also have an airport shuttle transfer. The food is quite varied and the gym is pretty extensive. I would say that in the room I stayed in, the bathroom facilities were a little dated and could do with a bit of attention. Room was quite spacious. A good place to host meetings or lunches as well with the extensive buffet." - TripAdvisor
"Marco Polo hotel is one of the best hotels in Davao City. As you enter the hotel lobby you are greeted by friendly hotel staff some even wearing a costume of the indigenous people of davao provinces which is pretty to look at. You can view some indigenous materials elegantly placed as lobby decorations reflecting a festive atmosphere of the place. I like the idea that despite its prominence, the hotel immersed itself in the culture of the place where it stands making the accommodation experience unique and remarkable!" - Agoda
"Despite (or because of) the lack of competition in its class, the Marco Polo has created a niche for itself as a social gathering place for Davao’s business community, making it a great place for business travelers to come and network with their local contacts, whether with a cocktail at the fourth-floor bar facing the swimming pool, or over dinner at the grand Café Marco." - About.com
