HILTON opened its first Hampton hotel on the Chinese mainland last week – the first of many as it eyes a major expansion in China. The hotel company inked a master development agreement with Plateno Hotels Group in 2014.

Together, they aim to open over 400 mid-scale Hampton brand hotels across the nation.

The first Hampton hotel in China opened in the southern city of Guangzhou. Boasting 223 rooms, the Hampton by Hilton Guangzhou Zhujiang New Town is situated in the city’s Tianhe district, near the Guangzhou International Finance Center and Guangzhou East Railway Station. Visitors can expect to enjoy a “multi-functional lobby”, free wi-fi, and a 24-hour snack bar among other amenities.

Phil Cordell, global head of the Hampton brand, said the hotel’s opening “represents a breakthrough for Hampton’s development in the China market. With a strong partner like Plateno Group, I have every confidence that the brand will achieve a similar success as in the United States.”
