TOURISM PHILIPPINES will hold trade events in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in April to brief and educate agents on the use of social media to promote the country. “Major” social media platforms are slated to give presentations at these events.
“We believe these trade events will offer a fresh perspective and unique opportunity for agents to not only learn about all that the Philippines has to offer, but also provide a chance to find out about how social media can assist in building brand awareness, how to reach consumers and selling the ideal destination,” said Norjamin Delos Reyes, Tourism Attaché at Philippine Department of Tourism Australia and New Zealand.
Reyes pointed out that Australia is the Philippines’ fifth most important market as a source of tourists, as about 250,000 Australian nationals visited the country last year.
“Australia has over 14 million Facebook users monthly and 5 million active users on Instagram each month, therefore it is a space where a high number of potential consumers interact every day. At Tourism Philippines, we believe that investing in agents by offering insights such as these, are key to ensuring that we are all industry innovators,” he said.
