Airport anxiety main cause of business travel stress, survey says

Business travel spend has spiked and will continue to do so in the next five years

A NEW survey by has revealed that the top cause of stress among business travelers is missing a flight or train.

Based on a study of 4,500 travelers across eight countries, the results also attribute language barriers, possibility of lost luggage, unfamiliar surroundings, misplacing important documents or a company-owned device, IT setup, and cultural differences as causes of stress.

Airport anxiety marks the most important cause of stress with half of business travelers expressing their concern about this. While missing flights are a worry, jet lag and airport security queues are also disliked.

Ripsy Bandourian, director of product development at, says that lacking home comforts and lack of personal time can also add a layer of unnecessary stress. Overall, findings highlight that only a third of business travelers feel positive about traveling on an official trip.
