THE Maldives is one of the best places in the world to see tropical fish and vibrant coral, all in complete luxury.

From snorkeling to scuba diving and dining with the fishes in the iconic Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at Conrad Maldives, to the imminent opening of the underwater villa on Rangali Island, the Maldives is undoubtedly an underwater adventure land.

And it’s about to get even more spectacular.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru has announced it will be the first place to offer personal submarine excursions with DeepFlight’s Super Falcon 3S.

The three-seater submarine can host two guests and a trained submarine pilot and dive deeper than the average scuba trip.

Landaa Giraavaru is in Baa Atoll which also conveniently the Maldives’ only Unesco Biosphere Reserve – a special place indeed.

Submariners can enjoy the Biosphere Reserve’s impressive corals and a stunning variety of fish, then dive over the drop off to watch sharks, turtles, dolphins, and rays swimming around at 120 feet below the surface.

“These submarine excursions redefine marine exploration and bridge the gap between the world we see above the waves and the one that exists below,” Regional Vice President Armando Kraenzlin said in a statement.

The eco-conscious traveler needn’t worry about damaging the ocean either. The submarine is battery operated, so no pollutants will harm the ecosystem.

Equally, the submarine never lands on the seabed or touches the corals.

If you fancy a ride in your own private submarine while in the Maldives make sure you change up enough Maldivian rufiyaa as it’ll cost you US$1,500 for two people.

Happy sailing, vacation-submariners.
