Here’s where Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas may tie the knot
INDIA will witness the “wedding of the year” when Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas tie the knot in the stunning city of Jodhpur next month.
Chopra, who is a Jamshedpur-born actress and the Miss World 2000 pageant winner, will be getting the Bollywood-themed destination wedding of her dreams. And where better to say “I do” than at the enchanting Umaid Bhavan Palace?
Chopra and Jonas’ wedding at the Umaid Bhavan Palace is likely to be an intimate affair, with only 200 people – close friends and family – in attendance.
But here is a sneak peek at the palace.
Perched on Chittar Hill in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a state in the northwestern region of India, the Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent piece of Rajasthan’s heritage.
Built between 1928 and 1943, the palace was constructed using palm court marble, the same stone that the Taj Mahal is built from.
It was home to the former Jodhpur royal family, the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest private residences in the world.
The palace complex is set amidst 25 acres of lush gardens featuring vibrant peacocks and a subterranean Zodiac Pool while its interior is decked in the finest example of art deco design.
At the entrance, the Umaid Bhavan Palace welcomes you with the Coat of arms of the Rathore royal family before leading you into the lobby which gleams with black granite flooring.
A stroll around the luxurious premise will find you the grandest chambers such as the throne room, private meeting hall, private dinner hall, public meeting hall, library, ballroom, spa, indoor swimming pool, royal sauna, marble squash court, and tennis courts.
Aside from its maze of heritage and memories, one of its most important attractions is the interior dome, which sits above the sky blue inner dome.
If you are particularly curious about the days gone by, the Umaid Bhavan Palace holds royal artifacts and personal collection of the kings like vintage clock collections, ancient photographs of the palace, classic cars of the king, porcelain wares, memorabilia, mural paintings, and miniature paintings.
All 64 of the five-star hotel’s breathtaking rooms and suites, including the royal suite of the king, offer beautiful panoramic views of the historical Blue City, vast sand dunes, and the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort.
And your royal treatment does not end there.
An exotic feast of authentic Rajasthani cuisine awaits at Risala, one of the three fine-dining restaurants in the hotel.
Equally, an array of European and Mediterranean delicacies at Pillars, set in a lovely colonnaded veranda, will tantalize your taste buds. Pick from pre-plated meals, snacks, Rajasthani delicacies, full meals, or teatime delicacies.
Then, pop by at the Trophy Bar to unwind with a glass of your favorite drink. Experience soothing music and a unique sports-themed environment at the bar as you browse its selection of gourmet drinks of fine wines from various countries.
And as the sun goes down, pamper yourself the Jiva Grande Spa’s rejuvenating signature treatments and therapies or find your center with yoga and meditation.
The gorgeous and majestic Umaid Bhavan Palace is where you can truly experience luxury as the royals did.
