SINGAPORE AIRLINES (SIA) created aviation history on Oct 11, 2018, when it flew its longest flight, also the world’s longest.

The non-stop 19-hour journey to New York from the Southeast Asian island of Singapore effectively overtook Qatar’s 17.5-hour Auckland to Doha route.

Lots were planned and done to ensure passengers’ comfort, including the 67 Business Class seat and 94 Premium Economy Class seat configuration which allows for more room and cooking up an in-flight wellness itinerary with health experts, nutritionists, and chefs.

Now, the airline is planning to fly to another destination non-stop.

On Sept 3, 2019, SIA will debut its non-stop Singapore-Seattle flights, making Seattle the fifth US city route for the airline’s route network and the fourth to be served non-stop from Singapore – when new flights are introduced next year.

The inaugural SQ28 flight will leave Singapore every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9.25 a.m. local time and arrive in Seattle on the same day at 9.05 a.m. local time.

The return SQ27 flight will depart Seattle at 10.40 a.m. local time every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and arrive in Singapore the following day at 5.30 p.m.

SIA is planning to increase the initial three times a week flight frequency in October 2019, with flight SQ28 and flight SQ27 operating every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

An Airbus A350-900 aircraft will be used on the route, fitted with 42 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy Class, and 187 Economy Class seats.

Seattle is one of the fastest growing cities in the US, with a strong and diverse economy.

It is home to the headquarters of a large number of major US corporations, and the city is a popular venue for start-up businesses.

Seattle also ranks highly for job growth and has a steadily increasing population.

Known affectionately as the “Emerald City,” Seattle is also a popular tourist destination, famous for its lush evergreen forests and parks, vibrant arts and cultural scene as well as the gateway for cruises to Alaska.

“Our new non-stop flights to Seattle are another demonstration of our commitment to expand our operations in the important US market and grow our network reach,” SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong said in a statement.

“The new services will also further strengthen the Singapore hub by providing customers faster and more convenient connectivity from key markets such as Southeast Asia, South Asia and Australasia to North America,” he added.

Singapore Airlines will operate 53 flights per week to the US by December 2018, including 27 non-stop Singapore-US services. With the introduction of the new Seattle flights next year, total US frequency will increase to 57 flights per week.

Tickets for the Singapore-Seattle flight will be made available for sale progressively from Nov 7, 2018, through the various distribution channels.
