THE highly anticipated hyper-reality experience that features cutting-edge technology and world-class content was unveiled at the new fully immersive experience center at Skytropolis Funland, Resorts World Genting, Malaysia.
Guests from across the region visiting the iconic resort, sitting high in the 130 million-year-old jungle will be able to enjoy The Voids ground-breaking entertainment for the first time in Asia.
When it comes to virtual reality, The Void represents the success of technology in extending the frontiers of hyper-reality. Resorts World Genting is The Void’s first location in their expansion plan in Asia.

In 2017, Resorts World Genting saw some 24 million visitors. It is expecting to exceed 25 million visitors before the year ends. The resort has recently undergone a massive transformation as part of its mission to “offer world-class unforgettable experiences”.
The Void is a US-based company that builds and operates virtual entertainment centers that focus on exploring immersive virtual worlds and dimensions.
Resorts World Genting invested an initial RM10 million to present this unparalleled level of immersion and interactivity to its visitors in Asia.
The Void at Resorts World Genting spans nearly 7,000 square feet, the first and biggest in Asia. It is also the biggest center out of North America.
The Void uses custom VR technology along with physical stages, allowing users to walk through and discover a virtual world to create immersive experiences that inspire exploration and engagement.
Its proprietary designed equipment melds the physical and digital worlds through head-mounted displays (HMDs), backtop computers and haptic vests, allowing sensory effects to be felt from multiple points using haptic feedback, that place visitors inside impossible worlds.
To provide physical feedback, the “stage” contains foam walls, special effects equipment such as fans, mist machines, and heat lamps, as well as props representing items such as guns and torches; all of these physical elements correspond with elements within the virtual world seen through the headset, increasing the illusion of immersion.
Resorts World Genting’s The Void launched on DEc 6, 2018, with two iconic experiences, “Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” and “Ralph Breaks VR”.
“Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire” will take guests through a breath-taking Star Wars journey where guests will feel the impact of blaster bolts, smell smoke from the surrounding environment, push buttons to solve an interactive puzzle to escape enemies, all while coordinating directly with their unit in real time through the blended virtual and physical world.
In “Ralph Breaks VR”, based Disney’s latest hit film, Ralph Breaks the Internet, guests will sneak onto the internet disguised as netizens to play the newest, coolest video game ever. Guests will shoot retro alien spaceships, squash pixel bugs, and fend off hordes of bunnies, and kitties in the Pancake Milkshake Diner while they team up with Ralph and Vanellope in the race against time to see who can rack up the highest score.
In speaking about how long it takes to produce one experience, The Void Charman and Chief Executive Officer Craig Watson told Travel Wire Asia, “For ‘Ralph Breaks VR’, we did it with filmmakers. We wrote it with the original screenplay for the film and worked with the actors and directors as part of the collaborative process. It took about nine months to a year.”
